  • The classic social networking site for kids.

tags: kids, socialnetworking, community, web2.0, cybersafety

  • This actually looks really safe. You have to pay for the site – which eliminates the advertising and market profiling – and also pretty much insures that the parent has entered the credit card information. And they have some vehicle for allowing parents to approve others who their children can chat with.

There is always the possibility that someone will send hurtful messages. But they have a complaint process. And it is possible to block people.

  • Essay Mapis an intuitive online essay planner for students.
Students do not to have sign up for an account or register an email address. They simply enter their first name and topic and away they go.
Students can move between screens as their ideas develop and become clearer.

The only downside is that essay maps cannot be saved. However, they can be printed out before exiting.

Hi Paul – You’re doing an amazing job of supplying us with a plethora of resource sites. I’m hoping to find as much time to read about them as there are sites that you posted. How do you find the time to explore all of this?

    Hi Carol,
I am trying to get some consultancy work whilst I look for an appropriate job based around supporting the use of ICT for learning. Here in HK these jobs are very few and very hard to get and the consultancy is also tough. The result is I have quite a bit of time and no money. May as well do some good for someone!
    Cheers
    Paul
