Framing a Conference Theme

This morning I am writing to representatives in Hong Kong and regional schools about the progress in arrangements for the conference. I will share out the Google doc that we are using for planning so that everyone has access to as much information as they can lay hands on. I will also share out the preliminary budget doc.
What I am going to ask them to consider with some urgency is the conference theme(s). As I said in my previous post, there are a lot of teachers that I have met with here that say they have heard too much of the evangelizing and not enough from those that are daily facing the worries and concerns of parents who are not sure that their kids are motivated enough to ignore the games on their own laptop computer and use it for something productive. Given this, the themes should indicate that the conference is about “Celebrating Successful Transformative Learning” or “Seeing Learning 2.0 in Action” or “Creating Classrooms Parents Don’t Recognize”.

We do have to be careful, however, that we do not overwhelm some of the teachers, librarians, and even administrators who are not as far advanced on the journey as others and who still need to take some baby steps. Even in International Schools we still have some of these who need some hand holding. Perhaps we can have a “stream” in the conference for these.
