Promethean: Doing it right in Hong Kong

Recently I had the good fortune to share a coffee with Gary Walder of Newell PR in Hong Kong. Gary is a former
teacher and now a PR consultant for Newell. Among his many clients, Gary manages the Promethean account in Hong Kong and I can tell from his passion for wanting to see more boards being used appropriately in Hong Kong schools that Gary is a great choice for the contract. He is passionate about the technology and what it should be doing to transform classrooms.
I have to say that I have been enormously impressed with Promethean as a company. They have gone out of their way to do it right in Hong Kong and the region. They have been a tireless supporter of educational conferences and exhibitions in Hong Kong in spite of some of these presenting poor opportunities for them to get the message across. They have also given support to some schools and teachers who have tried to go out on a limb and lead the push to use technology in a culture that puts a very high value on book study and test scores.
I know from having shared booths at exhibitions that Promethean have also worked to try to support resources in Traditional Chinese to support the Cantonese communities here in the Southern China and Taiwan region. They are also working with partners to try to get good content for the Activboard that can be used in classrooms in Hong Kong and the region.
The best collection of resources, however, has to be the ones on Promethean Planet site. This awesome collection of resources is second to none for range and variety. What I really like about the Promethean Planet site is that is follows the model of a community of educators that has to be the way to share and support each other if teachers view themselves the way that the should; as learners themselves.
